Burton on Trent based electrical contractor Yee Group is proud to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 2026 (9–15 February), supporting this year’s theme, “Skills For Life,” and reaffirming its long-standing commitment to developing future talent through apprenticeships.
Apprenticeships are a cornerstone of Yee Group’s workforce strategy. The business welcomes apprentice electricians each year, providing them with the skills, experience, and support needed to build successful long-term careers within the construction industry. The finance team has also welcomed accounts apprentices in the past, and our most recent appointment is now well established within the business.
At Yee Group, apprenticeships are about more than technical training. Alongside gaining industry-recognised electrical qualifications, apprentices develop essential life skills including teamwork, communication, problem-solving, time management, and professionalism. These skills support both personal development and long-term employability.
These “skills for life” enable apprentices to thrive not only on site, but throughout their careers as they progress into more senior roles.
Yee Group benefits directly from its commitment to apprenticeships, with a number of its current project managers and senior team members having started their careers as electrical apprentices within the business. By developing talent from the ground up, Yee Group builds a highly skilled management team with strong technical knowledge, first-hand site experience, and a deep understanding of the company’s standards and values.
This proven progression pathway strengthens project delivery, supports long-term staff retention, and clearly demonstrates the commercial value of investing in apprentices from the very beginning of their careers.
The success of apprentices at Yee Group is driven by a company-wide commitment to mentoring, support and development. From experienced electricians and supervisors to project managers and directors, the entire team plays an active role in helping apprentices grow in confidence, competence, and capability.
Yee Group fosters a supportive learning environment where apprentices are encouraged to ask questions, develop their skills safely, and take pride in their achievements.
By consistently investing in apprenticeships, Yee Group is helping to address skills shortages, strengthen the UK construction workforce, and support local communities through meaningful employment opportunities.
National Apprenticeship Week 2026 provides an opportunity to celebrate current apprentices, recognise the teams who support them, and reaffirm Yee Group’s ongoing commitment to developing the next generation of skilled professionals.
Yee Group remains firmly committed to apprenticeships as a pathway to long-term careers, strong leadership, and a sustainable future for the industry.
